About Us

The Obion County Genealogy Center is one of the areas preeminent resources for family history. The Tennessee Room features the resources and technology to aid  genealogists in their research. The Tennessee Room seeks to serve patrons interested in information on Tennessee history and their family history. We focus our collection on Obion County and a 150 mile radius of neighbors. We also have many sources dealing with the early lives and migration of settlers to Tennessee from other states.

The Obion County Public Library has a long history of providing outstanding genealogy resources. Amongst its many features, the Tennesssee Room has a uniquely expansive research collection including over 1,500 microfilm records, an expansive newspaper collection, state periodicals, city and state records, census information, deeds, wills, family tree information, assorted historical maps, and much more.

The latest technology is a major attribute to the Tennessee Room. Microfilm reader-printers-digitizers  and significant databases allow researchers to use today’s technology to assist their investigation.
